The women were taught how to check their tyre pressure and the danger of poor tyre maintenance.

Kim Bezuidenhout, AutoQuip managing director said, “As a woman it is very important to know more about your car, as well as knowing how to change a tyre. We women need to equip ourselves with more knowledge in regards to our cars because without knowledge you will not know where to begin.”

Tyre changing tips:

  •  Before changing your tyre, remember to place your safety triangles at both ends of your vehicle in order to warn other motorists that your vehicle is stationary
  •  Secure the vehicle
  •  Remove the wheel cover or hubcap of the tyre
  •  Loosen the wheel nuts
  •  Jack up your vehicle
  •  Take off the wheel nuts
  •  Remove the flat tyre
  •  Fit the spare tyre on your car
  •  Replace the wheel nuts
  •  Lower your vehicle and remove the jack and tighten wheel nuts more securely using your wrench
  •  Replace the wheel cover or hubcap
  •  Clear up and drive on safely, and remember to replace your jack, screwdriver and safety triangles in your boot.
