Immediately after the screenplay’s international tour to New Zealand, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore and a major UK tour, the splash production, produced by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, is delighting Montecasino audiences.

Singin’ in the Rain was set in 1927 and tells the story of the first Hollywood musical, when the silver screen found its voice and left the silent movies and some of its stars behind, and is packed full of charm, romance, comedy and Tinseltown glamour.

The production features all the popular songs from the glorious MGM score including Good Morning, Make ’em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the classic, Singin’ in the Rain.

The popular production’s scene ‘rain’ recycles over 12 000 litres of water per performance and is one of the big highlights of the show, leaving audiences in the front rows a little wet.

Cape Town-born, musical star Bethany Dickson takes on the role of aspiring actress Kathy Selden opposite Grant Almirall who makes his debut as the charming Don Lockwood. The production includes 27 cast members, Steven van Wyk as Cosmo Brown, Mark Richardson as Roscoe Dexter, James Borthwick as RF Simpson, Taryn-Lee Hudson as Lina Lamont and Anne Power as Dora.

The first three rows of the stalls, A to C, are designated as the splash zone where there will be chances of a shower during the screenplay’s big number. Don’t select those seats if you do not want to get wet.
