Laptops allegedly stolen by cleaner in government department

Police are requesting the assistance of community members to help them find the 31-year-old female suspect, Mokgadi Tryphosa Lebogo.

According to police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele, the suspect is alleged to have stolen several laptops from the offices of the Department of Social Development based in the Thusanong building on Commissioner Street. Mbele explained that on 15 December last year, another female employee of the department noticed that there had been forced entry into one of the offices in the building and an undisclosed number of laptops were missing.

It was reported that the suspect was working as a cleaner in the department. “She was employed temporarily from 1 to 31 December last year, but she disappeared before her term of work expired,” Mbele highlighted.

Efforts to trace the woman have proved fruitless, as it turns out she allegedly gave a false residential address when she was employed.

Police are appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact Johannesburg Central Detective Warrant Officer Rejoice Seeti.

Details: Detective Warrant Officer Seeti 073 650 9127.
