Ria Kennerly of Bull Ring Squash Events said prizes would include an iPhone, tablets, squash rackets and kits among other prizes. The prize for the men’s and women’s professional event is US$5 000 ( about R65 000) each.

Some of the professional players will also coach children of the Egoli Squash and Thusong Youth Centre development programmes which have been running at the Wanderers Club for the past two years.

Louw said, “The kids love it. They’re nearly at league standard and it gives them some great exposure.”
