Mayor Parks Tau wishes residents a happy festive season

“I encourage both Johannesburg citizens and visitors to take some time out during this festive season to explore our diverse cultural, leisure and many more lifestyle activities that make us a world-class African city,” said Tau.

“May you all have a safe and pleasant festive season, and a happy new year,” he said.

According to the City of Johannesburg, the city boasts a plethora of activities for both locals and tourists that go beyond fine dining and takeaways including:

  • City Sightseeing Bus: A hop-on hop-off red bus to all Johannesburg’s top tourist attractions.
  •  Origins Centre: The centre offers visitors a unique experience of Africa’s rich early life.
  •  Gold Reef City: An entertainment theme park created around an authentic gold mine.
  •  Johannesburg Zoo: Home to more than 2000 animals for viewing.
  •  Apartheid Museum: A museum documenting South Africa’s history of apartheid, illustrating the rise and fall of apartheid in the country.
  •  The Struggle Route: Includes the Mandela Family Museum, Walter Sisulu Square of Dedication, the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum, the Liliesleaf Farm and Constitutional Hill.
