Get a headstart with the Cambridge A-level programme

Matrics can apply for Year 13, an A-level programme that will start in 2018 at Dainfern College.

Dainfern College is excited about the new A-level programme that will be launched at their school in 2018.

“We are inviting Grade 12s across Johannesburg to apply,” said Karen Cosh, deputy principal of academics at Dainfern College. The programme will be offered as a post matric programme with specialised teachers and a programme director.

The following subjects will be available in the A-level programme in 2018: English language or English literature, pure mathematics, chemistry or physics, history or global perspectives and research. The A-level programme will help those who want to specialise in some of the above-mentioned subject areas and will give them a head start in that specific market.

Cosh explained that the grade 12 exit exam will remain the Independent Examination Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate. Cambridge, however, offers high-quality education accepted worldwide and if you would like to apply to study abroad the A-level programme can be used.

“A structured Year 13 is also a useful option for school-leavers who are not sure what they want to do after school as it gives them a meaningful gap-year experience,” explained Cosh.

Applications for the 2018 programme close on 29 May 2017.

School children who are interested in the programme can email: [email protected] or go to the Dainfern College website where application forms are also available.
