On 16 October the Grade 1s, 2s and 3s of Crawford Preparatory Fourways took to the stage to show off their singing, dancing and acting skills.
This year’s school production was entitled Trouble in Toyland and told the story of Poppy (Liyema Nomafu) and Peter (Ethan Rowe), two children who do not treat their toys well and need to change their ways.
Peter and Poppy take a journey through Toyland where they interact with Barbies, Lego pieces, toy soldiers and other childhood favourites (portrayed by their schoolmates) who sing and dance. The opening night was attended by the children’s families and incorporated the curriculum’s global competencies.
“The children and teachers have been working really hard to prepare for the opening night,” explained Tasneem Evans, who works in marketing and admissions at the school. “And the day before, the Grade 0s [from the preprimary] were invited to watch the show as well.
“This creates a link between the Grade 0s and the prep school so that when the younger kids come to the prep next year they are already familiar with the school.”
